Mark A C0sta Message to share.11/10/2021 Marines, Family and Friends of the Corps,
First and foremost, HAPPY BIRTHDAY. For the first time in the past 20 years, we celebrate this anniversary without Marines in combat operations. For that we are truly grateful. This respite in conflict is not the sign of complete peace but does allow our serving Marines and Sailors with their families to enjoy the beginning of the season of holidays in a more joyous mood. As we look back over the last year, we reflect on the loss of our Marines, Sailor and Soldier in Afghanistan as they secured the opportunity to escape to freedom for thousands under pending danger. We are forever grateful to those who have served our Nation with the Eagle, Globe and Anchor and indebted to those who paid the ultimate price. As we look forward to the year ahead, may we pray that our Marines and Sailors be prepared if the Nation calls upon them once again to go into harm's way to secure freedom, protect the innocent and serve those in need. May God continue to bless our Marines past and present, their families and friends who support them. SEMPER FI. Mark A. Costa, Colonel of Marines (Retired) To Our Nation's Veterans, Families, Friends and Those Who Share Their Healing Skills with Others, THANK YOU FOR SERVING. This experiment called America and its foundation in Liberty continues to thrive because through the years, men and women have risen to the occasion, raising their hands taking the oath to support and defend what defines us. As a Citizen, I am grateful for your service. As a Veteran, I am proud to have served in the long line of uniformed patriots. During the past year, our Nation has endured a series of challenges that have caused many to question the balance between Freedom and Unity. Finding this balance as individuals, community and a nation is nothing new; it is the nature of the Liberty our nation is built on. How we work through our differences to find unity in direction while accommodating individual freedom is dependent on how we treat each other. To my fellow Veterans, I offer the challenge; Share our experience in service pursuing unity of purpose, respect for individuals and the exercise of the maximum freedom of choice. Success can be achieved when self-interest is tempered with the interest of others. We know there is no perfect solution; it is the continuing nature of our Nation, but let us focus on the future that we have as a result of those who served to provide it. May I also recognize those First Responders, Law Enforcement, Fire, Rescue, Emergency Service, Medical and Healthcare providers -Thank You to those who served and continue to serve. May God continue to Bless America with citizens who will serve others to ensure Freedom and Liberty while we pursue Unity of Purpose. Mark A. Costa sends. ‘The opportunity to enable Sarah’s long-term independence, quality of life and medical intervention whilst living with Rheumatoid Arthritis and its associated illnesses.’

As many of you know, I have spent over three years trying to address and resolve the problem associated with events surrounding the implementation of increased clinical productivity standards by VA/VET Center Program management that mandated excessive number of visits counselors are expected to achieve, which has been adversely impacting counselor welfare and degrading their ability to provide the best possible care to veterans and their families. I am co-authoring a book, ‘Broken Promises,’ with JR Strayve Jr detailing these events and its impact. We would like to provide you an opportunity to stay informed during the writing, marketing, and publishing journey. If you would like to receive updates from us, click here to sign-up for our newsletter. Also, please forward this email to as many people you know who might be interested in this significant matter, in order to raise awareness about how these productivity expectations are negatively affecting veteran counseling services and the welfare of the clinicians who care for them. Sincerely, Ted Blickwedel Ted Blickwedel, LICSW LtCol, USMC, Retired Former VA/VET Center Counselor Warriors are courageously stepping up to share their NDEs & STEs with others!
